PLA
PLA is a biodegradable plastic made from cornstarch. Although it lacks heat resistance, it is an excellent material for 3D printing figurines and prototypes due to its aesthetic qualities.

ABS
ABS is a strong and durable material commonly used in consumer injection molded products, including LEGOS. It offers heat resistance and superior strength compared to PLA, making it ideal for indoor use.

PETG
I’ve found that PETG is a type of plastic that is often used in water bottles. Its properties fall between those of PLA and ABS. Although it isn’t as strong as ABS, it is stronger than PLA. Additionally, it is more heat resistant than PLA but less so than ABS. PETG is a great option for thin parts or parts with little surface area on the bed, and it doesn’t experience layer splitting or warping, making it a fantastic alternative to ABS. As it turns out, PETG has a lot of benefits!

ASA is a material designed for outdoor use, with added pigment to fight against UV degradation while retaining the benefits of ABS.

Infill
When placing an order through Baysinger’s Additive Manufacturing, it is crucial to select the appropriate infill setting. The infill setting in the slicer software determines the amount of plastic that is filled inside the part. This setting can be adjusted in increments of 10%, with the default value being 20%. If the infill is set to 0%, the part will be completely hollow, while 100% infill will result in a solid part. For instance, if the infill is set to 20%, the part will be hollow with 20% of it filled with plastic in a grid pattern, as shown in the images on the right.
